Recognize this plug anyone?

It is behind the speaker on both driver and passenger front doors. Found it while installing new mirrors with turn signals/running lights.

It isn't plugged into anything, and doesn't look like it ever has been from the corrosion on the pins.

My X is an 01.

I got a set of take-offs from an 05 F250. They are the older style rounded tow mirrors with the smoked turn signal/marker light. Got a nice deal on them at the Gold Mine.

I would have to take off my doors to confirm but that looks like the plug the seat memory buttons connect into to.

I'd be willing to bet that's what it is...although it wasn't an option until the 2002 MY.

WHY DID I BUY AN '01 AND MISS OUT ON ALL THE COOL FEATURES?!

Oh,... wait... Because I wanted forged and not PMR for ridiculous sleeper Excursion aspirations.

On topic again, if Mike's is a late 01, it probably had the 2002 MY features and was sold as such.

Thank God you did....you would've blown up a PMR engine by now. You just you...

You barely missed the PMR cut off too...

It wouldn't surprise me if that's how Mike's truck was configured because Ford has been doing that for some time now. When you see things like: "Reverse sensing system, late availability" or "Power Pedals Available after August 2000" Both were obviously 2001 features they were integrating into the 2000 trucks in preparation for the 2001 MY.

So depending on Mike's build date, he may have an early '02 setup.

Mine is a 11/00 build date to clarify for those helping figure what the heck that plug is.

It wouldn't be in both doors either, just the drivers... Mirror heat maybe?

I think mirror heat might be the best candidate, since the diagrams list that wire (hot) as green with magenta trace. Looking at the pic I posted, it just might be magenta on that green wire. But why the separate plug...?

I'll add this: the PO added the simple tow mirrors to this truck at some point, and he used the connector adapter from Ford on the driver's side to go from the oval white plug to the newer flat rectangle Ford was using on the 05 and up mirrors with turn signals. On the passenger side, they did a really crappy splice job. Does anyone know if the paddle mirrors had two connectors or one? If they had two, then it is likely for the heat.

The adaptor harness that came with my 08 tow mirrors had the gray rectangle into two round plugs to adapt to the older harness. Was to make use of the factory heat n electric options.

Aha! So that confirms it. It is the separate plug for the heating element in the mirror from the paddle mirror setup, and I will need to tap into those for my 05 mirrors. Thanks for the help, guys!
