Smoke at start ups

Hello I have a 2006 Ford F-250 6.0 powerstroke with 100,000 miles and it puts out a puff of smoke at cold start up every time and also when I run it then park it for maybe 1 1 1/2 and it puts out a puff and also I noticed when I get to work with is about a 20 minute drive I get there around 8 then leave at 5 I noticed it puts out a puff then if I watch the exhaust I can see a slight haze but I figured it's just condensation. Here's the list of stuff I have put on the truck... Oringed heads by librator performance, with oem gaskets every thing, arps head studs, egr delete, airdog 2 fuel system, mtw stage 2 turbo, bulletproof ficm, coolant filter, banks intake, fuel pressure set at 68 and fuel regulator return. Here's a list off parts I put on trying to fix the smoke I put in 5 injectors because the ford ids had a slight change and after that it was straight line I put in hpop and turbo drain pipe and I tested the ficm and its 48 with the key on and cranking and running so im stumped thanks for everyone's input in advance!!
Mike

My truck does the same thing, but the smoke it gray-blueish. Also, my engine stumbles until warmed up. Hopefully I didn't just hi-jack.

Do you get a knock upon start up? When I had an injector dumping while running and leaking when sitting for a bit, It would have a "mini" hydro lock and knock louder then normal at start up. Smoke pretty good too.

I would have expected that Ford would have seen that while testing the injectors.

When we get down to basics,, oil burning at startup only can be valve seals. Bad glow plugs can also cause smoke at startup.

The truck runs flawlessly no stumble or nothing doesn't nock louder or anything I have been trying to solve this for about 5 months now and it didn't get any worse. Could a glow plug module cause it to do this? I sall they have glow plugs that are stronger then fords and I was thinking about getting them but I figured it would throw a code?

it doesnt need to knock to have an injector over fueling in the cold. that being, what temperature are your cold starts?

glow plugs are relatiely easy, so if you want to try something stronger than oem giver. the part thats iffy is if the harness breaks when replacing it

I don't think a little bit of a haze/puff at cold start up is anything to worry about. Mine does, and the part timer I work for has three 6.0's that all do the same thing, one has 70k miles on the clock.
Mine does not smoke on a hot/warm start.

A puff of grayish smoke on a cold weather cold start is normal.

The FICM is commanding more fuel for startup. See below from the FICM guide. The coil pulse width is longer on a cold start than for normal operation: 5.8 milliseconds cold versus around 800 microseconds warmed up.

When I do a cold start on a cold morning, it fires right up more aggressively than a hot start, or a cold start during warm weather. I always think "man, that was a good start" but it's just the extra fuel helping out.

If it runs great once started, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Beyond that, I don't see the mystery behind it. You're running a bunch of mods that are indicative of additional strain on the engine and valve train.

I don't know you're driving habits, but it would seem like the truck has the airdog thing, banks intake, stage 2 turbo, and whatever other mods because the accelerator pedal gets pushed down pretty hard somewhat often.

x2. There is a possibility that the issue is related to the FICM software that you are running. Any idea what software revision you are running or are you running a performance tune? Of course, if you AREN'T running a performance tune and, well, wanted to , we could sure get you going in that arena.

If you did elect to send it in, we could even tell you what software was on it now for comparison purposes.

Is there a way I could check the software with my tuner?

The SCT does not afford a method to check FICM tunes, no. The tunes that you are running through the SCT do not impact the FICM.
