I have A 1970 ford F250 with a 360 2bbl that when you start it in the morning it willl stall out unless you keep your foot on the pedal. the previous owner said he installed the new carb about six months ago.I know that there is at least one piece missing and it looks like a barrel with a small copper or gold color tube coming out of the top of it that is supposed to press against the linkage anybody know what this part is and were i can get it.
There should be a stepped cam that the idle speed adjustment screw makes contact with. When the engine is cold and the choke is closed, the cam should move up a step or two.

What does this step cam look like and where is it located on the carb

Just to the right of the main carb body in the left, lower part of this pic. As stated above carbed engines are cold blooded unless the choke is adjusted correctly. 1st thing I'd do is see if the fast idle speed is correct. 2nd, figure out if the choke flap is opening too far or not enough on cold engine start up.
