Hey guys,

Brand new to the classic truck scene!

Just purchased a 1956 M100 Mercury here in Canada.

Plans will be to restore it, w/modern touch.

The truck currently has an inline 6 with offenhauser manifols and head cover, 3 on a tree!

Where does one begin!? I like the flat black, and would like to drop it down and have some great suspension up under there.

Being from Canada, where could I get parts!?

Also tell me anything about these trucks... I've done a bit of research but not much comes up for the M100.

You won't be able to buy many parts under the Mercury M-100 badging but Ford F-100 are pretty much identical. Not sure where you live but assume you are in the western part of Canada. You can try the OLD Car Center in Langley BC. midfifty .com is one of the best sources in the United States if you don't mind shopping across border but most of the parts are going to come from the States anyway so parts are expensive right now.

I don't know, it's kind of hard to read what they say on them, he's missing badges too judging by the pictures but he could have a box of parts too.

Nic, are you in Nunavut like your profile says? Might be a whole world harder then.

Old Car Center is a good place to deal with, and Hot Rods & Classics in Abbotsford get orders from both Dennis Carpenter and LMC from the states on a regular basis.

Looks like you have a good starting point. What's your plans with it?

CaptPayne,

The truck is located in Ottawa, in storage.

My plan is to due a full frame restore, and keep it as original as possible.

However, I would like to upgrade the suspension, brakes, and see what my options are for motors.

I like the flat black paint.

For now my biggest concern is finding parts.

Thank you for the suggested part suppliers.

What 6 cylinder is in it? It's my understanding that the Mercury trucks in Canada all came with the 272 Y block V8 except for the P350 and P500 Parcel deliveries

I'm curious why it sits so high in the back? Extended shackles?
