Trolling with the Excursion

So my wife headed out of town to visit family early for Thanksgiving with the kids in her van. I brought the dogs in the Excursion two days after.

On the way back home, we left at about the same time, but I forgot my leftovers so I headed back.

A while down the highway, I called to check where she was. I should've caught her by now, unless she was driving *really* fast. Then again, the Ex tops out at 95, so...

We both use the Waze app on our phones and it said that we would arrive home within 5-10 minutes of each other. Turns out she was 10 minutes behind me. Apparently, she stopped for some fast food for the kids.

I decided to pull over into one of the "Authorized Vehicles Only" pull off spots between the northbound lanes and southbound lanes to have some fun.

Not a minute passes when my phone dings, "Police Reported Ahead" the little icon pointed to my location. It was "thumbs upped" by a few other passers by.

About ten minutes later, I see my wife behind an Acura TL sedan. (That's how my wife and I roll. We're both leadfoots, but never the first person in line.)

So after my wife passes my spot, I gun it and pull out into traffic. She calls me and says, "Yeah... Nice try. You almost scared me. But you really scared the guy in front of me. We've been doing about 80-90 the entire time." The guy in front had dropped down to 65 in a 70 MPH zone and pulled over into the right hand lane.

I pulled over behind the guy and followed him as his speed slowly dropped to 60. I followed him closely at ten under the speed limit for a few miles until my exit came up and passed him. He wasn't happy.

You do that too huh? I didn't think I was the only one :-missing

The Monster is Ebony Clearcoat so it's as black as it gets. It also doesn't help that my windows are tinted so dark you have to walk and cup your hands against the glass to see in.

One night, I was in my parents neighborhood and waiting for them to make their way home. I got a call from one of my friends and the only place I had good reception was in a similar "authorized vehicles only" are on the main drag. So I parked The Monster there waiting for my parents with just my parking lights on while I'm on the phone. Everyone coming into the neighborhood kept slowing down. My parents come over the hill and I turn my headlights on and start following them back to their house. My mom looks and realizes it was just me, but gave my Dad crap about going too fast thinking he was about to get pulled over, LOL!

Another time, I was playing the my SCT and AE trying to get my speedo and GPS to agree. I went out onto the freeway to make a few runs and see what adjustments I needed to make. This stretch of road is highly populated with State Troopers and a local law enforcement agency who is proud of their two exits and small stretch of freeway jurisdiction. But people speed through there anyway....so I look in my rear view to make sure no one is trying to sneak up on me while I programming my truck and I see brake lights coming on as people slowly pass me.

Good story, BTW, WTH is "Authorized Vehicles Only"?

Isn't every licensed, registered, insured vehicle on the road "Authorized"?

Anytime I'm about to use one of those things I ask Wendy if she will authorize me to use it. She of course says yes so I feel justified in using it as I am at that moment authorized

That's how I am too... Need to turn around on divided hwy, just hit the ditch and out the other side...

as for people slowing down for even thinking there's a chance of getting pulled over, I find it funny as hell. Way I look at it, if I slow down, the cop/hwy patrol/whatever will know I know I was speeding and saw them. If I just keep going, most of the time they leave me be. I'm the guy that passes the cops with the cruise set at 8 mph over the limit. Lol

And this is also my Ex.
Ebony with tinted windows. (Except the front windows and windshield. Illegal in this state without medical wavier.)

I need to pull the cladding and change the grille.

I've got 2005-2007 Headlights sitting in the back seat. Need the wiring harness upgrade and to hack at the header panel.

There's already an antenna port on the roof that I need to pop the cap off and put a new antenna in. (This used to be an Oregon Government vehicle. Not sure what, maybe public works or something.)
