Red face Hi all from NC!

My name is David but you can call me Dave or Fuzz. We are newto NC as the wife and I moved down here in April from CT. I have an older sonbut he is up in CT on his own so other than fur kids, 2 cats and a dog it isjust the 2 of us.
I don’t have a Ford truck yet and have not really owned onebut have worked on and driven the older ones from the 70’s. Even built a 66Bronco for my uncle for off road racing going from a 200 cid to a built up 302w/351 heads that was a screamer! I am more into the AMC cars as I have 2- 1970Javelins: 1 built for drag racing and the other I am building/modding forstreet. I also have a 1975 factory v8 Gremlin that now needs a lot more workthan I am willing to put into it. All of the cars and my car trailer (with dragcar on it) are in MY garage / work shop.
Any way the “yet” part of Ford owner ship is I need a puckup for hauling things as my SUV (02 Dodge Durango) just is not good forthrowing things in the back to run to the dump, pick up messy stuff, etc. Itwas ordered new to pull my car trailer and does that pretty good. With themileage getting up on it (175+K) and all the computer junk it is hard for me todo any work on it. Being it also has been at the dealer for 2 weeks now (crankno start but started when towed in, we have a loaner), I would be using the P/Uas a spare set of wheels that hopefully gets better MPG that the 360 dodge.
Checking the WWW I have come across 3 Fords (80/81/85) Iwould look at and have sent email to 1 (80 flare side) for more information. Also wanting more info on the trucks I have Googled them and brought me here. Ihave looked over this site for a few days now and did get some answers but italso brought up more as I did not get a firm answer to a few but till I get atruck (hopefully the flare side) I will hold off on some of them.
Plan would beto get the 80 (good body from what I see/bad inside) & the 81 (badbody/good inside) and swap the 81 into the 80 A/C and all as I don’t think the80 has A/C and you need that down here as I found out this summer. Once on the road as time & money would let me, is do some mods like lower it a little, wider tires maybe even swap the 300/stick for a 302/351/stick but we will see as that is far down the road.
Enough rambling thanks for letting me join and as soon as Ihave a truck and have questions I will be posting.
Thanks
Dave ----

Welcome. Our son and family live in Rolesville just North of Raleigh and my dad and mom came from Avery Co in the mountains. We have a 55 F100 so we definitely have no computer issues to work on - fairly simple technology but still so old and original that it seems something is always not working.
