I'm looking at the Viair ultra duty kit. 200psi with a 100% duty cycle. I like the extreme outback product and their claims are great. The Viair's have a good reputation here and other forums. They now have a nice setup with the 'ultra duty' just.
At $389 from Home Depot, it's the best option I've found. I'm looking to have air tools and an 'air jack' to help with recovery.
Me too! I have the compressor sitting in the garage, along with some air horns from a mack I believe. I just need to figure out what I want for a tank. I want a LOT of air!

I have an air horn from a train, and I too want a LOT of air.
Pirate, I believe this is all on expectations. If a unit can power an impact wrench to pull 8-lugs at s time, and use an air Jack to raise the truck, I'v meet my expectations.
I would appreciate the ability to mount a York, but it's not in the cards for our cramped engine bays.
From research, the new wave of OBA compressors with improved duty cycles can meet these needs where/when needed.
I'm not looking to run a machine shop off my truck. This is my way to augment AAA when I travel and go hunting.

I still have the system in place for my airbags which I believe are Ride Rite(?) but there are no bags anymore, PO must have removed them. I see they installed it not under the hood but on the frame rail under the EX, why would you nee to install it under the hood? I will most likely be re-installing the bags for when I tow, but I know I would like to have on board capabilities as well, I will have to look at the capacity of the compressor.
I looked at the link provided by Air Lift Company and it seems to have a similar system to the ride rite but they use on onboard air tank as reservoir which makes sense, food for thought.

It's a matter of cubic feet per minute of air delivery or CFM
A single viair will deliver about 1 CFM
The dual viar is rated at 1.8 CFM @ 100 psi
I will attach a pic showing some generic air tools CFM rates.
I have tried every method of powering air tools out in the desert you can possible think of and I have a viair and an ARB compressor on my Ex for OBA but neither of those are going to power a 1/2 impact to remove my lug nuts. However a $150 18v Dewalt 1/2 impact does a decent job on them.
As far as expectations go, the viar type compressions are great for horns, air bags, even inflating tires, air tools not so much.
Edit... Sorry for the off topic tech... But I will just add, if you are just looking for convince to change a tire, weld a lug nut onto your Jack and the Dewalt can be used to spin the Jack and remove lug nuts.
Before you spend your Christmas cash on carpet, have you tried washing yours ?
Ford used remarkably high quality carpet and it comes clean very nicely using a pressure washer ( or a car wash ) and some Super Clean applied with a nylon brush and a bit of elbow grease.
I would have sworn mine was toast. Turned out almost as good as new and better then the aftermarket carpet would have been in my opinion.
Was an easy Saturday project and I even scrubbed the leather and detailed all the trim work.
how difficult was it to remove/reinstall?
Im good at taking things out, not that great at putting them back in
