I have a trans temp gauge doesn't get hot fluid is still perfect. It's not a slipping feeling it's literally in neutral won't go no where if you floor high rpm the truck will force it self to shift very hard and o/d light flashing. I guess I just need to bring it to an automotive electrically specialist
O/D light flashing means the trans is detecting slipping and then over pressurizes to stop it, that's why it shifts hard. If the trans was rebuilt 4-10k miles ago I'd take it back to who ever built it and have them look at it. Any reputable shop will stand behind their work. Just an FYI my trans did the same thing, there's a big chance you'll be having it rebuilt again because these trannys don't like that stuff. Oh and BTW just because your temp gauge doesn't show it being hot doesn't mean it isn't, depending where your gauge is it may be clogged with debris and not receiving flow and giving a bad reading.
The flashing OD light means the computer has detected something is wrong with the transmission system. Slipping is only one of about 50 different things that could make the OD light flash. The only way to know why the light is flashing is to get the codes read.
In the late 90s and 2000s we replaced a LOT of MLp at the dealership. There massive water intrusion issues dating to the beginning of e4od use. Most people don't understand how crucial it is. Listen when you go from park to rev and to n again . The engine should change rpm slightly due to the load anticipated. Most I see don't change. The truck may work ok as mine did but not 100% correctly. Replaced mine with no codes or symptoms other than I knew it was not right.
Listen to mark on this. Lots of these would fall out of gear and MLp fixed it.
Did anyone come up with a solution for this? I started having the same issues. Replaced vss with a factory one, mlps along with multi use switch on column.
next step I guess is to trace wires.

I took the cluster out and sent it off to be checked. The speedometer repair shop said the psom had a capacitor that was going bad and causing an intermittent signal which was causing it to drop into nuetral. After having it repaired for about a hundred bucks, it's been a month now and has not dropped since and the CEL light went off on its own.
