keyless entry
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Feb-02 AT 02:38 PM (EST)]I bought a Carbine alarm for my 91 explorer which already had the electric locks. It works great and is configurable just about any way you want it, but it was not really easy to install, because the wires to the locks must be intercepted for the remote to use them. This means either buying a set of insert cables (where available) or cutting the existing wires and running them through the alarm relays.
I chose the latter because I am cheap!. Took a couple of hours to get it all done.
In the case of the Explorer, the wires are all available behind the drivers side kick panel. I have not installed one yet in my F150.

I bought an ICD from JCwhitney about 2 years ago. I paid $29 then. I believe they have an updated system and it's half the price I paid. Wiring it is a real PITA. I gave up on the connections in the passenger kick panel and used the wires from the passenger switch.

I recently put a remote starter with keyless entry in my 1994 F150. Wiring is a PITA, but worth it. If you want I can send you a list of the wires you will need to connect. If your keyless entry system doesnt come with the relays to open and close the locks, you will need to get those as well. I could not get mine to work without them.
