Question Replacement Fuel Injectors

I had the Ford Motorsport 19lb injectors M-9593-C302 in my old truck. I was planning on using them for my new engine build project, but they appear to be no longer available. I was hoping to find a nice set of new Ford injectors, as I'm not too keen on using remans. Does anyone know for sure if these are available anywhere?

Seems no one has them. You might try giving Ford a call to see if they have been superseded by a new part number.

It seems they are discontinued and no longer available. I'm considering a remanufactured set with the 4 hole upgraded spray pattern that are flow matched. I only see the other options being Accel from Summit or the expensive I individual replacements.

As stated before, dump the single hole/needle design.
Go for a 4-hole setup, I jumped 2 MPG from that swap.

I found a set of the 4 Hole (Bosch Type 3's - search it!) in the junkyard. (they're in a TON of cars. Look for the thinner bodied yellowish-orange color injectors with the jetronix connectors.)

Left is the Single hole (Bosch Type I/II design - Those Ford Motorsports are this style.), right is the 4 Hole (Bosch Type III) style.
That particular color is indicative of a 19#/hr injector. If you're not reburning the PCM, stay with the 19#.

After I pulled them they got soaked in B12 Chemtool for a two weeks - I snagged a connector off the donor car and wired up a 9v battery and a switch to pulse the injector.

Make sure to tear them down before you soak them, and every day (while theyre soaking) pull each one out and back flow them with a compressed air nozzle with a rubber tip, pulsing the injectors while blowing (DO NOT KEEP THEM ON/PULSED!) . If you blow them out onto a white paper towel you'll be amazed at what comes out... Make sure they still have some chemtool/solvent inside when you blow them through, helps move some of the varnish.
You can get the hats, o-rings, and internal filters from HERE

Tip on the hats - boil some water in a measuring cup, and with a fork dip the hats down into the water for about 30 seconds. Lift it out and snap them onto the injector. Easiest way to do it without damaging the hat.

If you have an LKQ Pick-A-Part in your area, the Christmas/New years 50% off sales are coming and gasoline injectors are about 9$ a piece normally. so on sale they're about 40$.
Saved a TON of money by doing it myself.

My 2c!

I have read about the improved 4 hole design, but I didn't know that it was only the thinner body units. I thought the Ford Motorsports ones had the improvement.

Yeah, I'm not altering the ECU, so I'll be sticking with the yellow 19s. Maybe rebuilding a set is the way to go. Thanks for the tips on that.

I found these which seem like a good deal.

There are improved, wide body #19lb injectors, w/4 hole spray pattern. They were introduced around '92 on V8 engines. The latter slim body designs, actually flow just a little less than their wide body counterparts. I did research on this 2 years ago. I may even have a thread, but I don't know where its at.

I have also read that the wide body injectors don't heat soak as bad as their slim body counterparts. Due to the metal case they are surrounded in.

Also, the slim body #19lb injectors do not seat well in the lower intake and also do not project farther into the lower intact for a better spray pattern. The spray actually can hit the sides of the upper intact following into the intake side of the head, combustion chamber, and you get half spray, half dousing/saturation.

Not trying to contradict anyone's finding, just my research and observations.

Well I hope buying the slim body ones wasn't a mistake. Sigh...

They do look a bit different on the end. Why is it that they don't seat well in the intake?

They seat ok, but their wide body counterparts have the top hat, and actually sit around a 1/4 - 5/16ths into the injector hole. The spray is the same but its not as recessed, protruding further into the lower intake manifold injector housing.

When I get home, I will use a '92, 302 truck intake and take pictures. I have used both and can't say if they made a difference or not. I will try to dig up the thread from a few years ago on the research on the injectors.

May even Google the engineering # and it will show you the flow rates of dozens of different injector's.

I took measurements for the wide body and the slim body injectors for depth into the injector hole in the lower intake.

Wide body #19lb. Injector
The wide body injector measures .0625 from the edge of the lower intake.

Slim body #19lb. Injector
The slim body injector measure 0.883 from the edge of the lower intake.

Now, also note the difference when both are inserted into the lower intake injector holes.

If I find the link for the flow rate difference, I will post it.

EDIT: I spoke wrong of the wide body injectors not being succumbed to heat soak. It's the other way around. The slim body injectors don't have this problem.

Also, the flow rate of the wide body is 230cc @ 3 bar
Slim body is 210cc @ 3 bar

In that last pic it sure doesn't look like they fit all too well. I wonder if the fit is the same in the newer Explorer etc.

As far as I know we never experienced a heat soak issue with the older style.
