Diesel Sputtering
Is it normal for the PSD to kinda sputter when idling? When I am at an idle it seems like the turbo sputters, maybe the motor? It almost sounds as if your motor is running and you keep covering and uncovering your ears.
I am sorry this is a lousy explanation. But, I was with someone who had a PSD 99.5 also, and there's did not do it. I am puzzled.
Maybe sputtering is a bad term. It almost sounds like the motor is running fine, more like intermittent grinding when idling. This will sound very stupid but its like you hear the motor and you hear intermittent muffled grinding. Like a wheel that is running free and then slowed by metal grinding, but not screeching.
Does the turbo make any grinding noise when it is not getting enough oil? Sorry guys, I am not mechanically inclined.
When I got my inspection sticker the guy at the garage said it was my torque converter. But, It sounds like it is more under the hood instead of underneath.
I'm not really much of a psd mechanic myself so that's why I had you post here. I was hoping to get some help from the experts. I would get out and get the hood up and possibly crawl under the truck and really try and locate the sound myself. That would help a lot.
does it do it when it is warm....after temps come up to normal ?when you do the first of the day put it into neutral and report again. have you had the truck long ?....has it just started doing it.
