I had the blown out lumbar. When I bought the truck, it had a seat cover with pillows shoved under it. I bought an inflatable on fleabay, and was using it outside the seat, but got tired of adjusting it. So, here is my fix:
Bought this somewhere in the internet. It has some padding, so it doesn't just go completely flat.
Tilt the seat all the way forward and you will see this clip. This u shaped clip is on the front of the seat cover.
This barbed strip is on the back of the seat cover and folds 180* over the u shaped clip, and then hooks into it.
I drilled and used metal screws to re-attach the brace, then used zip ties to support the inflatable pad, and hold the rods in place. My most redneck fix in a long time, but I was trying to be quick, more than proper
This and the metal brace fell out when I opened the seat cover.
Screwing the metal brace directly to the frame, took some arch out and made the upper lumbar a bit firm. It may work better to use some kind of joining bracket to keep the arch in the brace. Also the lower inflatable lumbar is a tad low. I'd have to play with it to work that out.
All in all, it's better than cushions flopping around, and is pretty comfy so far. OH... and coolest of all, I discovered the pump and relief valve still work, so the little hand pump ball went away, and I just used the trucks inflate/deflate tube.
ahh mine is 110v but 140a @100%dc . i added the tig. it has always done what i asked. I have done a lot of frame work in the past and it has alway been good. Cant imagine not having a welder, use it a LOT!
either way,how does that bladder do? it looks kind of unsupported there.
wish there were replacement oe style bladders...but then I would need 4 lol
I bought the gas enhanced wire feed welder, then discovered some issues with the house that put us in litigation, that will likely lead to us being out of the house, so I've lost all desire to make any upgrades, including my 240 plug.
It does ok. The support isn't really the issue, the position is kinda low. Usually I keep it pretty flat and sit with my butt near the back of the seat bottom. If I inflate it, it hit right at my belt line. So I usually just move my butt forward a bit if I feel the need to inflate it, and it works out. I've been in it up to 45 min so far and it's pretty comfy. It certainly could be set up better, but that was my 15 min. fix.
