New owner (pics)

Just a couple quick pics of my new truck (was loosing the light so nothing fancy, lol)

Truck is a 86 Eddie Bauer edition, 351w with a c6, 3.50 gears with Posi, power everything.

Spent about four hours cleaning it yesterday after trading for it. It was covered in what I am amusing was coal and tree sap mixed together. Still not all the way cleaned up yet.

Looks pretty good in the pictures but has a bunch of minor things that need fixing. When I was growing up my dad bought a '89 Bronco XLT new after his '78 Bronco got stolen, so I know how it should be and I want it back to that, lol.

Probably start with wiring issues, none of the gauge lights work, and several things have aftermarket switches.

Planning on changing the color (because this is like the 4th red vehicle I have, I'd like a change, maybe hunter green or dark blue). 33's or 35s with a small lift. And I'd like to go diesel with it for some better MPG.

So more pics to come, just thought I'd say hey over here as I'm sure to be asking more questions in time.

Nice

Run some new additional grounds from bat (-) to radiator support and to firewall (hood hinge bolt). Soldered lugs on good stranded wire. The gauges just might come back on

Thanks

I managed to get the dash lights to work, but not the dimmer for them. Only work when I turn it till it 'clicks'. Needed a fuse, not sure why he took it out and replaced it with a light shining on it.

I'll need to go through the wiring, I must have found a dozen loose ends of wires not including the stereo stuff. No idea where half of them go, and I need to get the gas gauge working which I believe is just the wire between the tank and gauge since he says he tested the two and said it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Also have a couple leaks that I'll need to nip in the bud, especially being a daily driver in Seattle. Leaking above the rear speakers on both sides, but coming out from under the plastic not at the glass/rubber I can see. And leaking through the intake vents near the hood.

And there are a good amount of things under the hood that aren't hooked up that I need to figure out what they are and why they are there...

Time to get a book, ha.

So where do you guys find some of the harder to find parts? Seems not everything is being reproduced for these things yet.

My driver side power lock doesn't work, missing the linkage and I don't know if the motor works. And the tailgate window key is missing everything that connects the key cylinder to make the window go down from behind. Any ideas where to find them?

Problems all sorted out

It had a lot of wires that were ran not hooked up to anything on either end. I'm guessing he had a different stereo system in it that he removed and left all the wires in between.

Leaks turned out to be from condensation in the back. The front was from the outside vents filling up from evergreen needles and dirt. There was close to 4 milk jugs worth in it, went up past the access panel so when water would go to drain it would hit the mud and take too long to drain and then go through the access panel. Thankfully it was an easy fix and not one that had been going on long, didn't cause any damage.

Might have to sell it though as my brother is coming out with my other truck now and I'm not sure I'll have room for both :\

First, nice Bronco Second good taste in your avatar Third, double check the side window seals. I have a leak there and it comes out under the plastic molding and has made the carpet in that area moldy

Thanks

"Abby" is the build name of my '56, seemed fitting to have the character as my avatar.

I think the window seals are good, I poured a bunch of water on it and checked the inside, didn't find anything. Then we got hammered with an all day rain storm last week and it didn't add any water to the inside (it was bad enough I got water in my house on an inside wall behind the paint from running down a 2x4 in the attic below a roof vent that had a tiny gap in it). If it survived that without anything being added inside then I'd say it's sealed up.

Thought I was going to have to sell it, turns out I'm going to keep it. Now on to the fun
