Ford SB question - clutch pivot

Showing my newbie status w SBF castings - are all drilled / tapped to accept a clutch pivot ball? Ready to order crate and may retain the manual for now, want to make sure I know what I'm doing before learning about it via school of hard knocks...

Mine had a standard and i changed it to automatic but it seems to me like i remember removing a bracket from the housing bolts with the pivot pin in it . Well somebody will know for sure.

No.. not all SBFs have it.... The drilled/tapped boss was omitted in like the late 80s when they went to clutch cables. There is an aftermarket bracket available though....


I don't think any roller blocks have the boss. Contact whomever you're gonna get the crate engine from and verify?

The threaded hole on the left rear corner of the 302 blocks, for the clutch equalizer (Z) bar pivot stud, went away beginning in 1974.

See images at bottom of page 16.

You can get a bracket that attaches to the bell housing bolts that has the pivot stud attached to it.
