My father has been a mechanic for almost 30 years. He always taught me to never ever ever use a Fram filter on anything. I always thought maybe that was just his opinion. I'm seeing that many other people feel the same way though. Maybe the old man knows what he's talking about
It's all a marketing ploy. Selling by "product association".
By showing their filters on a Ranger, Fram is trying to get people to think they make a great filter, because it's being used on a great truck. They are essentially trying to get consumers to look right past the lousy Fram filter and see nothing but that awesome Ford Ranger.

Both Wix and Napa Gold are good filters...but you really should check out the Oil & Lube Forum where the virtues and drawbacks of different oil filter brands is debated on a regular basis. Do a search in that forum using "filter" as your keyword and you will find a bunch of threads that will be chock full of opinions on the subject.
i used fram oil and air filters on my van 95 plymouth voyager and its got 127000 and still stomps v6 mustangs. its on its 3rd tranny but runs great. had one on my ranger and went and tried napa this time. but no problems out of them.
