Had anyone seen the Fram ad on TV, they are giving the Ranger a bad name by showing it with a Fram oil filter.

My father has been a mechanic for almost 30 years. He always taught me to never ever ever use a Fram filter on anything. I always thought maybe that was just his opinion. I'm seeing that many other people feel the same way though. Maybe the old man knows what he's talking about

Hi Ken,

I haven't seen the ad, but think about it, if a Ranger can stand up
to the abuse a Fram will give it, that's saying something for the
Ranger!!!!!!

I agree totally.

It's all a marketing ploy. Selling by "product association".

By showing their filters on a Ranger, Fram is trying to get people to think they make a great filter, because it's being used on a great truck. They are essentially trying to get consumers to look right past the lousy Fram filter and see nothing but that awesome Ford Ranger.

My question is, why would Ford allow it?

Both Wix and Napa Gold are good filters...but you really should check out the Oil & Lube Forum where the virtues and drawbacks of different oil filter brands is debated on a regular basis. Do a search in that forum using "filter" as your keyword and you will find a bunch of threads that will be chock full of opinions on the subject.
