If you have a Remote (column) shift, you do not have a top loader.
Column shift top-loaders were used on mid-fifties trucks ('53 -on) with the HD T87D. Rodtek, need to include info on what year truck we're talking about.
I suspect you can just take the central shifter assembly, complete, from another T87 and swap them, but I don't know that for a fact.
Mine is in a 1970 ford brothers p 350 step van here are the numbers on the trans case t87g-1a top cover is t87-148f 6 bolt top load. I am about to find out ! I found one out of a 1949 f1 a t 87 hd top load floor shift so I am going to try it . Mine is just like the drawing you sent . I will let you know if it works. thanks for your reply

This is good news. So, I am wanting to do this as well. Do you have any advise from your experience on what to look for when I am searching for the correct parts/transmission to switch to the floor shift? Thanks!
