a4ld floor and column shift

i was wondering if you can use a floor shift tranny for a column shift tranny don't know if they interchange. its in an 89 ranger 2.9 2wd auto of course

If there is any difference between the two transmissions it would be the lever that the shifter attaches to. Often they are different between a floor shift and column shift. The lever is very easy to change.
