no i had the problem before also the check engine light was on and went to local dealer and had the problem troubleshot to the filler tube having a hole in it.then had them
fix the the filler tube and here 6 mos later i'm having the problem again without the check engine light being on.replaced the fuel filter to see if that is the problem due to
replacing the filter about a month ago?thx
Ok, so as I understand the history, you had the spit back problem, the Dealer fixed it by replacing the fill tube, now 6mos later your having the spit back problem again, so gather up your work receipt & take it & the vehicle back to them to recheck their work.
Kinda sounds like something has a kink in it, did it come about suddenly again after some event & have you looked underneath at the fill tube connection & run over to the fuel tank??? As you know the fuel filter is in the fuel line after the fuel tank, so won't have any effect on the gas tank fuelling spit back problem, but if it was time to be changed, wasn't a bad idea for other reasons.
There's a screen that prevents any type of siphon hose from getting to the gas.
Maybe this screen is getting clogged or is restricting flow enough to activate the automatic fillup to switch off.
I'm just guessing here, but I know that there is a screen in the filler conductor.
I'm leaning towards an issue with the canister vent solenoid. If that sticks closed, the tank won't vent properly and will cause the issues you and Thinlizzy13 are describing.
