Good Day everyone! I am replacing and painting the inner fender aprons on my 1965 Ford F-250 among other parts. Since I have it all a part I decided to take out and paint my radiator support. Its in great shape except for the mounting bolts they appear to be rusted in the support. I have located a new kit (bolts, bushings etc) on DC and LMC. For a F-250 it says to add more washers. like to know just what that means also. Also, there was some kind of putty between the fenders and the inner aprons as well as other spots. I am wondering what it is and where can I get some. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Replaced the radiator support kit on 65 many years ago, from both DC and LMC, and found DC support kit, back then, was year specific, and much better quality. Not certain what 'add more washers' would indicate; possibly if there's excess space between bushings and radiator support one is expected to fill the gap with washers, what a sad commentary?
In browsing both catalogs today, they appear to be similar, or same, sorry can't recommend since not impressed with either; having said that, when it comes to seals, gaskets, bushings, I tend to go with DC. Perhaps other members with current experience will chime in?
The putty you may be referring to is a 'caulking putty; made by 3M, imagine there are several other brands, comes in thin strips and either in grey or black; there may be other colors? I have seen the putty in a few auto part stores, or auto body supply shops. Posting pic from website as example only: BLACK STRIP CAULK
Oh, by the way, great looking truck, and I like that color!!
Thank you Dave, I'm going to order from DC and replace all the body bushings as well as the radiator ones too. I have some work to do to get the old bolts out and hope there is no rust damage to the through holes on the support. And thanks for the link on the puddy. Very helpful.
And thank you number dummy. I have read and have seen this illustration when I was researching this issue and the advice to replace all body bushings. Good tip.
With regards to rusted nuts, bolts, and various sheet metal hardware, I found applying a few squirts of penetrating oil before hand works wonders; especially, in removing front end suspension components.
I was getting ready to ask the same question about the putty. Glad I read this first. Good info. Hope I can find some. Thanks
You should not have a problem finding the putty, if unable to find locally there are several online supplier's. In the link posted, appears to be the cheapest relative cheaper than some of the other supplier's; although, only by a few $'s, seem to recall Amazon was my source? I made the mistake of purchasing couple packs, grey and black, only to find it does not take much.

Have them soaking now. Hope to have in for blasting this Friday. Thanks.
I saw a kit that didn't have #00157 but just a bunch of washers. Came from Dennis "made in China" Carpenter. That is the only part you won't find at your local hardware store.
