Could some one please tell me how to take off the front passanger rotor, the rotor needs to be fixed because it is grooved really bad and want to replace it but don't know how to take off the rotor since it has 4x4.
1. tire off
2. lock out assembly comes right off
3. C clip, washer, bearing, washer come off next
4. Jam nut, if you dont have the tool a screwdriver and hammer work well, counter clockwise
5. spacer comes off
6. inner lock nut comes off the same way the outer jam nut did
7. oh yeah dont forget the brakes need to come off first
and replace the bearings while your in there
That's a good summary for manual locking hubs. If you have auto locking hubs, it will be similar, but the internals for the locking hub are different, and the locknut is different.
1. same
2. same
3. same (I think)
4. remove cam assembly from locknut.
5. remove locking key
6. remove wheelbearing locknut (the socket for this can be hard to find. On my Explorer, it was a 2-3/8 in hex socket. not sure what it is for a BII)
7. same
You'd be well served for this operation to have a manual. Chilton's/Haynes will be adequate. If you don't want to buy one, you can sometimes get them from the library. Also, the vehicle repair guides at www.autozone.com are the equivalent of a Chilton's manual.
i recently replaced the RF rotor on my B2 and itr was fairly easy. the hard part is the little locking key in the groove in the spindle. the trick is to use a magnet. i tried a magnet off of a speaker but the key was too far back for it to work.so, use one of those little magnets on the end of a small screwdriver.lots of luck
