I have a 2006 Ford F-250 with the 6.0 with 99,000 that puts a puff of white with a tint of grey that smells like unburnt diesel smoke at start ups it will do it cold ever time and will do it when i let it sit for maybe a hour but not every time. I've noticed I had higher egts then before also not sure if it's related at all or not. I had on the ids the graph was a straight line for the injectors, pressure checked the coolant cold and hot doesn't loose pressure. No puking, New hpop. Here's what I have done to it, oringed heads, arp studs, remote oil cooler, factory injectors, egr delete, air dog 2 fuel system, coolant filtration, bulletproof ficm, regulated fuel return, stage 2 mtw turbo,CCV mod, banks air intake. I'm stumped! Thanks for your replies in advance, Mike

Reason: Forgot to add something
I did the test cold and when hot and I have been using archoil fuel addictive and I think that has it in it and the temp is about 55 today but it's parked in the garage every night and it did this when it was in the 70s too
I put it back on stock and it still does it and just had the turbo off to do the hpop and was all good plus just put the turbo on about 2,000 Miles ago and it's definitely not blueish I'm stumped maybe it's nothing to worry about but just don't like it especially since it didn't do it before
About 5 months ago and yes I have it set to 66psi and I tried playing around with that to see if anything changed but didn't change anything and I forgot I have a regulated fuel return

Sorry to take so long to reply but at those temps it doesn't sound like a fuel(cetane) or oil viscosity issue. But many folks prefer a 5W-40 synthetic with these motors.
Just a thought - I know you listed a bulletproof FICM but have you monitored the FICM input & output voltages prior to and during startup?
I have a edge insight motor and a sct programmer it take a little bit after it fires up to come on I'll try get it to turn on before I start it and while running it's always at 48.5 to 49 never above and never below. I will let you know when I get home tonight and I'll check that. I was woundering if it could be the other side of the ficm not sure how it works I know the logic side converts 12v to 48 but not sure about the other side when I got the bulletproof ficm it only has the logic part so the other part is still oem. Thanks for everyone's input !
