250 or 350?

2014 F250 XLT crew cab 4x4
2011 F350 XLT Crew cab FX4

Trying to make a decision on which to purchase. The 250 has 19,500 miles for $32k and the 350 has 115k for $24.
This will be used for pulling my pull behind 6k lb trailer. These are 6.2 gassers cause I didn't want diesel. Can I get some input on the biggest differences between these two? What kind of mpg can I expect out of the 250 v 350? And the 250 still has the factory warranty on it. Any help is appreciated, buying hopefully this wknd. Thanks!

For mpg, I would expect you to get 12-14 with either. My 2012 6.2 supercab with a utility body gets 10mpg.

Get the newer truck with less miles. Spacer block is the only difference between a 250 and 350 equipped the same. Warranty, a lot less miles-- take the 250.

being the 250 and 350 are basically the same..

same engine, same everything... the 2011 did have issue with the transmission..
search on here for it.

miles and cost. for 8k more, I would go for the 2014...

but it is Easy for me to spend your money.

as for MPG... I average 17 on the road empty... 10 with 8k trailer.

As it sits go with the newer 250. I just sold a 14 with about that many miles on it for a little less than than but it was a RC, so it sounds like a solid enough deal. Also, if the '14 is at a Ford dealership they should be able to make it a CPO if it isn't already and even if you have to pay for the upgrade, it's worth it for the Ford warranty and inspection.

I would get the F-250 and having a factory warranty will be nice to have.

one thing to consider is the GVW, in my state a truck under 10,000LBS is registered, inspected and insured as a passenger vehicle. Which is much less hassle and cost. Most F250's are 9,900lbs or slightly less. If your state is similar it's something to consider.

I reread your post, a guy at work just bought a 2016 F250 XLT 4x4 for $35K with a Fisher stainless V-plow. New trucks have full warranty and lower financing. Worth checking it out. Last I knew, the SD rebate was $6500.

The 2014 F250 would be a 10k truck

New is often the way to go these days, especially if you are getting a plow. So long as you have some sort of company you would be eligible for an additional $1000 rebate if you purchase a plow too.

If the 250 has the camper package with the overload springs and sway bar, I'm quite sure it also has the higher spacer of the 350. Part numbers appear to be the same.

which is under 10,001lbs. Guy at work saved more than that, they have different discounts for different regions. Not sure why people don't list they location on their profile, it would save some time here and there.

18vtx00, I bought my f350 Platinum w/FX4 not thinking about weight and being registered. In WV anything over 10,000 is required to have a B tag. When I got my registration it was a normal passenger one and it said my truck only weights 8k and some change.

That's the reason I mentioned it, most don't think about it until the are at the registy. Sounds like someone did you a favor! I've never seen a late model 350SD under 10K. saved you some coin though.

You can option for a 350 with the downgrade package to 10k.

I brought up the 250 GVWR because you said a truck "in my state... under 10000". I wasn't trying to be nit picky, but if that was the wording then the 10k F250/350 would in fact be over the figure. Most are phrased along the lines of over 10k is deemed commercial or something. It wouldn't shock me if there was a state that did it backwards either out of ignorance or to get more funding out of registrations.

Also "saved" can well be different than "rebates". Yes, the rebates differ by region, but the commercial upfit rebate is nation wide I believe. Same program number for Huston and Kalamazoo as what I have here in Pa, I just checked. If I mark up a plow on my lot by a grand and then give you $2k off, it's the same as what I actually do and sell the plow at cost and take off the $1000 rebate. Everyone brags about how good their deal was, even if they were the one who got taken to town.

So it's registered just for the weight of the vehicle? This could wind up being a problem for you if you tow and/or load anything into the bed, as then you are over your registered weight limit and could get a ticket.
