I have no choke on my 400 engine because PO disconnected it for some reason. Is it possible to convert it to manual choke? What carburetor
does the 400 have? Thanks?
Take a picture of the carb and post it so we can see exactly what you mean by "no choke". Most of these trucks that I've seen with the 351M/400 have the Motorcraft 2150 carb if its stock, picture should help us answer that question as well. Make sure the air cleaner is off, obviously. In the US the manual choke kits run just about $10 at any parts store and they fit basically anything, they aren't really carb specific.
Thanks, I appreciate all suggestions! I work double shifts today and have to come back tomorrow with pictures. I think some of the linkage for the choke are broken but i will show you tomorrow in pictures. The engine runs great and I dont want to replace the carburetor, just repair it or convert to manual choke.
We dont have a lot of spare parts for this carbs over here but I will order
parts or a used carb (for parts) from U.S.
yep, motorcraft 2150 indeed. You're missing the small plate where the specific carb part number would be though so ordering a rebuild kit may be tough. The choke looks fine from the pictures and doesn't appear to be missing parts. If it doesn't work it's probably stuck linkage.
