Im curious to hear the update. I have never had to do anything more than cycle the key 3 times to purge air from the lines. Always starts up on 1st try (knock on wood).
I will let yall know how it goes tomorrow. Going to be off for the holiday. Will hit it early and we will see. I hope changing it out the aftermarket for motorcraft will fix it. Fingers crossed.
Update. Good news. By getting OEM filters in it I was able to purge all the air.
Bad news. Still got p2291. Checking now the 4 pin connector to the hpfp. then I will do the frp sensor disconnect test to verify that I have no rail pressure. The scan tool show 0.00 when cranking. Also did the while cranking voltage test. Came out at 10.75. well above the 8 required. Batts are full and no other codes other than p1000 which should clear itself should I ever make in run. Not hopefull though. Looking more and more like a bad hpfp.
Thanks Senix, 10.75 is cranking voltage static is around 12.25. charger on now @ 2amps. Spent the afternoon with a multimeter and the 4 pin connector for the hpfp. Checks out good for the fuel volume and pressure regulator solinoids. Checking the harness back to the ecm not suposed to be voltage on pin 1 and 2 but mine is carrying 4.48 volts. the Ford pced states any voltage present to find and repair short. So I disassembled the loom back to the ecm. I found the four wire on the harness side of the four pin connector had melted where they lay next to the turbo.
But found no insulation breach the were just squished. ohmed them back to the ecm plug pin 48 and 24. ohmed out good. got to be geting voltage from ecm so read the test again and it was ment to be key off. i did it key on. so other than seperating the squished part and and re-routing the loom to give more clearence, time wasted. Well not really. did prove out the harness, and fpcv and fvcv circuits. Not made it to the fuel rail pressure sensor yet. Need to pull valve cover and unplug. Attempt start and if it does it proves the sensor is no good. the sensor needs to see 2600 iirc to let it run.
Adjuster was at the dealer yesterday. Haven't received a decision yet. Service writer says he thinks they will come through. Been praying for them to make the right decision. We will see how it goes. Writer told me there was a bunch of sedimentary rust in the tanks that had to have been pumped in. He also said they took a sample of the fuel. When I get a decision I will name the insurance company. Not a mom and pop shop I assure you.
Morning all, still no word. Like waiting for a kid to be born back when you didn't know boy or girl. I have been reading about better filtration, Air dog and FASS seem to have a good product. My question would be, do you install them along with the horizontal oem pump or go around it? Also how is the water in fuel light activated should you go around the oem? My interest in them is the increase in flow and better filtration. The air scrubbing seems to me a good idea as well. I once was a heavy equipment mechanic and have seen the damage air can cause on hydraulic pumps. The pressures encountered in the hpfp far exceed any hydraulic system I have ever worked on. Seems to me that the entrained air could cause a failure like this as well.
Next question would be the secondary fuel filter is where the low side regulator is, Ford spec is from 3-5 psi. Anyway to bump that to 8-10 to make sure there is a constant head pressure on the hpfp?
