Code reader help
This may sound stupid but I've never owned or used a code reader so I have some questions. What's a good code reader for my 95 f-150 4.9L? How much should I expect to pay and what other vehicles would it be compatible with? I did some searching and I've seen that 96 and newer vehicles need a different code reader, why? Do they come with manuals that include all the info I need to figure out how to use it and what the codes mean? I would really appreciate some help on this topic since I know so very little about it.

Code reader help
If your truck has EEC-IV computer then you can get a code reader for it for about 25-40 bucks, with a manual and all the code references. Use your shop manual to decipher the codes (Haynes or Chilton, etc.). If your truck is a newer (late 95-96) vehicle it will have OBD-II and the scanner is much more expensive and harder to decode.
