Wheel adapters

Has anyone used wheel adapters? I got a set of brand new 40" tires on 20" 8 lug wheels. I know they make a 5x5.5" to 8x6.5" wheel adapter. Would it be a horrible idea?

Your axles are not going to like 40s.

What gear are you running? 4.10s are going to be almost too tall for 40s.

jmo, bad idea.

Not sure about the gearing just bought the bronco. I was more concerned about the bearings and ball joints

My brother used a set of 1/2" thick wheel spacers on the front of his Jeep for years to get the rims to clear the brakes. I have never found any manufacturer that recommends using them to change the wheel bolt pattern. I would think they would have to be far too thick to change the pattern and would put too much extra strain on the wheel studs, bearings, and steering components.
