1985 f150
Going to look at and possibly buy a 1985 f150 with a full Manuel choke carb setup what are some things to look for to see if it's Goin to last me as a daily driver has the 300 IL 6 thanks for any input

See if it has the ignition module mounted on the dist under the dist cap like a fuel injected for engine does(TFI module if you want to look one up on the web). If it does, then it still has the computer controlled ignition. That's not a bad thing unless there are lots of cut wires and hoses on the engine. If that's the case, it will need a dist conversion. If it doesn't have the TFI module on the dist, then it's already been converted.

If its going to be a daily driver starting on day #1, I would look for a strong starting engine that idles smoothly, and a vehicle that accelerates smoothly, stops nicely, and doesn't smell funny!
