I'm 6'. I love the new supercab with the full swing door, and I think it looks better than Super Crew, but I wouldn't want to be in the back all the time. It's better than many cars in the back, but not stretch out like the crew. If just once in a while it's perfect. Kids will be fine and dandy.
In 06 we got the super crew, we almost got the super cab,but friends got hit in the side bad with there new super cab and it opened up like a beer can. We stepped up to the crew for safety
2015 and earlier have far less than acceptable front crash protection for driver and front passenger. The 2016's are supposed to get beefed up to match the excellent Screw.
Here is how I would make that choice. If the rear is rarely used for humans, the super cab is great for a toolbox or your lunch kit or occasional use for kids that are out of car seats. If you have kids in car seats, or have folks in the back seat often, the super crew is amazing.
I'm in the market for a new truck, and just sat in both. I would tell you it all depends on how you plan to use the truck, and how long you want adults to sit in the back. While not jammed in the back of the Super Cab, I would not want to ride back there for more than an hour or so, so if you plan to take long road trips with more than two adults, I would go with the Super Crew. For short hauls around town, the Super Cab would be fine. After driving and riding in both, I'm going with the Super Crew.
You will never, and I mean NEVER say, "This cab is too big." Crew cab is always a good choice.
Now you might say, "This truck is too long." That's for you to decide.

Yup, I feel the same way. I've ridden in the back of my dad's '10 SuperCab a few times and it wasn't bad. But the extra flexibility with the crew cab is really great.
The competition went with conventional-style rear doors for the extended cabs, which is something I wish Ford did. Being able to open the rear doors without the front would be useful.
The wife and I are empty nester's, and I just got a Supercrew. Don't regret it at all. There is so much room in the back and when you flip the seats up, the back of the truck is huge for suitcases, packages, whatever. I rode in a neighbors Supercab. Nice truck, but I wouldn't want to be in the back for a long ride.
Having worked wrecks involving late-model Supercab configurations of multiple brands (basically any of the trucks that lack a pillar/post between front and rear seats) I wouldn't even ride in one, much less buy one.
I find the extra cab room useful in many respects with my Supercrew. The best thing for me and the things I haul is the room that opens up when the rear seats are folded up.
I'd go 157"wb Super Crew.
