Heck, put the front seats all the way forward and I'll bet the back would not be a bad place to lay a sleeping bag and crash for a while...
Two people can sleep quite well like this as long as you like the other person. My wife and I have crashed like this when we have gotten rained out tent camping and made it fine.
Oh geez Tom. Is that where those go?! And here all along I thought that's what the bed of the truck was for. So the refuse goes in the cab and the passengers go in the bed. Got it. Silly me.

The bed is also full of leaves. I have to take them to the recycling center about 12 miles away and am trying to make as few trips as possible.
I have a 2004 Supercab and love it. It's got an 8' bed and is great for trips to Lowes or HD and hauling stuff to the dump. It's not good at hauling people though. The rear seat is ok for short trips and storing tools but that's it.
I just bought a Crew Cab so the entire family can fit comfortably. I'm keeping the 2004 though. Best of both worlds.
I just traded a '14 Ram quad cab for a '15 Lariat SuperCrew. Just three of us in the family with one being a pretty short Filipino (my wife). Initial thought was the small backseat would be OK. After 12 months and 20k miles, we were surprised how often we really needed more room. Even my wife had to admit that sitting with her knees touching the front seat was not too comfortable!!
And a 3,000 mile trip to Calgary and back was nasty for the person in the back. Really uncomfortable!!
The SuperCrew, on the other hand, is both spacious and practical. Flip up the seats and the indoor carrying capacity is huge!!! We're really happy with the change and are not looking back!!
Where do you live that you are 3000 miles from Calgary? Somewhere at least 2000 miles too far I'd say.
Anyways, it's super helpful if you put your location into your profile. Same goes for Tony and RZ above.
EDIT: Just realized you meant three thousand round trip. So that puts you somewhere near San Jose, Tulsa or Albuquerque. Was I close? Some of those spots ain't bad.
Pretty similar wheelbase, I would be pretty similar ride, although the supercrew would be a touch heavier, so maybe it rides smoother? Probably not enough to notice.

Actually, we're in Tacoma, WA, but our trip was a bit roundabout!! Had a GREAT time in the area and will be back again.

I'm in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I don't know why my location doesn't show up, it's in my profile. Wait, I just looked, it says Virginia Beach, well look at that, lol.
