anyone add a tranny oil cooler to pre '14 FTC?

So, against Ford's advice, I tow a trailer....usually 400 pounds, but I'm about to upgrade to 1600 pounds (full load). I'm thinking about adding a transmission oil cooler before I upgrade the trailer size.

By the way, I've been towing between 400-800 pounds for over a year (app. 10,000 miles towing) with another 600-800 pounds in the van....I just went over 21,000 miles.

I also installed a rear air bag kit....which helps a lot.

First question, I'm interested in the air bag kit sources?.. thx.

At this point I would sway for the trans cooling system also. Just seem logical if one is going to be towing.. But hell I'd want one on our van just because.

I'm not sure if this is where I purchased the air bag kit, but Firestone was the manufacturer. They hold the air well; I usually have to put a couple of pounds every 4-6 months, so far. I installed them at around 5,000 miles....or 16,000 miles ago. 2010-2013 Ford Transit Connect Air Suspension Kits - Firestone 2485 - Firestone Air Bag Suspension Kit

I am confused by your statement that Ford advises against towing a trailer. A trailer hitch is one option on the Connect and when I visit Seattle I see a lot of commercial Connects towing trailers.

Like 2Lost, I am also interested in your air bag conversion. A show and tell would be nice.

According to the Ford 2013 RV and Trailer Towing Guide:
"The following vehicles are not recommended for trailer towing: C-MAX Hybrid, C-MAX Energi, Fiesta, Focus, Mustang GT Premium, Mustang Boss 302, Shelby GT500, Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi, Taurus SHO, MKZ Hybrid, and Transit Connect."

Prior to 2014, the TC was not recommended for towing. It used only a 2 liter engine which sure wouldn't have had much capacity towing something up a Rocky Mountain pass.

In 2014 and later, there is a 2000 lb max trailer weight allowed with the trailer towing package.
