2002 7.3L Tire Time

So I'm planning on hitting the road and thinking about replacing all the tires. At least some have treads and look decent Currently the tires are Sumitomo performance tires st 718 lp 225/70r19.5.

My use is running to the lumber yard, gravel pit and hauling a 8.5 x 20 car trailer with tools and mower inside. All occasionally.

I don't know what are good. I've gotten quotes like Gladiator Midrange (steering tires) $165ea, Gladiator (traction tires) $214ea and Hankook (steering) $280 Hankook (steering) $300.

Is 12ply or 14ply better? What brands?

The tread on the Sumitomo doesn't look like it "wicks" the water away from the tire like I've seen advertised with other tires.

Also I'm thinking about rims. The rims I have are the steel painted rims. I'd like them to look better so I could paint them but since I"m thinking of investing in tires now is the time to pick the right size. Should I stay with the size I have or something bigger? Thoughts?

For obvious reasons a 14ply is better (can handle more load with out flexing the side wall) as for tires you can go with 245-7019.5 or 265-70 19.5 with some lift and you can pick a set of Alcoas for your rig they will look nice
