Thanks for the info guys. Work has lightened up for me finally so I plan to check this out this afternoon. I did remember the vacume is pulsed but I expected the hub locks to rotate when it engaged, I'll jack it up and check it that way. I might have time to read through those pdf's while I'm at work later also .
Thanks for the Tech data Sean, I think I'll take Moe's suggestion and check the motor on the transfer case first. Next it looks like some electrical checks -I haven't even checked those fuses yet, shoulda done that first thing. Then off into the hubs for vacume checks. Looks pretty straight forward except,, where is the 4x4 control module located? If it's in that Tech data I missed it.
Sorry I forgot that one. Yes that is the correct place. Because of what Moe
said I put the gear-moter and encoder R&R PDF in the info I posted for you.
I have a big tarp I use to tent the truck. I hook it to the
fascia board below the gutter and then use bungie cord to
strap it to the cleats in the bed. I stay dry but it's still cold
unless I drag out the kerosene torpedo heater. Then it toasty.
High winds are the killer.
Actuially, what I said is true but kind of an excuse. At the risk of sounding lik a wuss, I got a flu shot Monday and it's kinda kickin my butt. Tried to just ignore it and power through but it's getting worse instead of better.
Mom got one a week before she fell and it kicked her butt
for a few days. But due to her age it was the double does shot also.
I do understand where you are at. I am being lazy and just don't
want to deal with mine tonight even though once I get started
I would have it very close to done. And that elbow I use as a prop
still hurts if I put pressure on it wrong.
Did you ever get to check 4x4 with the hubs locked? I had similar issues where ESOF would not work with the hubs unlocked. I serviced/lubed them and it cleared right up.

I got a pneumonia shot in one arm and a flu shot in the other arm the day I got discharged from my second hip surgery. The flu shot and hip surgery were NO comparison to the pain of the pneumonia vaccination. WOW that hurt. . Made me forget alllllll about that flu shot (that normally hurts like hell).
The ESOF solenoid under the hood has three pins. The middle pin is a common. You want to ohm out between the middle pin and one of the other pins (take your pick) then measure between the middle pin and the opposite pin. You should have similar resistance measurements on both sides. If one side or both are open, the solenoid is toast.

Been there too. Worse than a tetanus short ever was.
Interesting that in the "similar threads" box below is a link to a post I made last year about having the codes P1832 and P1836. I don't remember that but apparently I had those codes and 4x4 was working at the time. Reads like I decided to blow it off and wait until something quit working...now it has. The Internet, like an elephant, never forgets. Lol
