Some spy shots are out for the next Expedition. Saw one of these when I was out in Dearborn the other week and did a double take because i hadn't seen any spy shots yet.
I sure hope so. I'm still not liking the front ends of the new F-150's yet and I sure don't like that look on the Expy. Looks like an Ex and I wasn't all that much in love that front end either.
I think Ford went the wrong way with the F150 front clip, it looks like a Toyota. They had just gotten the F150 looking great IMO, and I also like the new Expedition front end, although arguably it isn't too revolutionary.
My guess is based purely on the trend of the full size SUVs out there. There are several buyer demographics that merge to the full size SUV market. One is simply the cross section of people that want the massive amount of room that you can't get in a cross over and refuse to rock a mini van. Many of those probably don't want to be reminded that they are essentially in a full size truck. The same group would also like some exclusivity in relation to the work and company trucks running around out there.
Another demographic is one that uses their SUV to tow more than a pop up. Those folks already are aware that the XP is a traditional body on frame vehicle.
That said, the above assertions are just based on my observations of the industy. An industry of which I am by no means an expert. So take it at face value.... a guess.
2018? Meh, Don't want to wait that long, but I suppose they could release around first of the year or end of 2017 and call it a 2018. Hoping it's a 2017.
I'll be in for the next gen Expedition. Seems I'm on a 2 year buying cycle. I'd like to see the rear load leveling available with the CCD suspension, more usuable center console space (my 2005 had much more room) larger glove box ( geez, I think my Viper's is larger) and more interior storage perhaps like Chrysler does under the rear floor boards, etc.
