Do you want a Hollywood brush guard that will only stop a small limb at 10 mph, or a real guard
that will stop a deer at 60? I see a lot of guards on SUVs where it looks to me like the owner is pretending he's about to go on safari.
I went thru this some years ago; the true animal guards look like the front end of a locomotive. Ugly, but effective. Most others seem pretty worthless as an animal guard.
I'd suggest doing your homework on the Internet, seeing what appeals to you, and
whether it satisfies the reason you're going to put a guard on.
I hit a deer going 55 years ago in my Chevy pickup, on the right headlight.
$1000 in damages including rupturing the transmission cooler requiring a tow and
servicing. Even the metal bumper was bent. Apparently the deer wasn't as it ran off.

We ran into a deer several years ago going about that speed with our 1989 Jeep Cherokee. It slightly cracked a small section of the plastic grill, which I was able to pull out such that it was not even noticeable. No other signs of damage. The deer was deader than dead; I think it killed him (a 6 pointer) instantly.
