I had DirectTV and a netTalk back in Florida. They were great. Went with a bundle here in Vegas because of price. But after 4 years I am getting tire of fighting with *** over the constantly changing prices. They changed prices on me at one point when I was supposed to have a 2 year locked in price, WTF! I am dropping everything from them but the internet. I purchased my own modem so they can't charge me a rental fee as well.
The netTalk is great if you have good internet. Base unit is $15 with 3 months free service. After than it is $40 a year for service. It has all the common phone features most people want/need included. We started using them in Florida for our teen girls so others in the house could receive calls as well. You can check it out here FREE Home Phone Service Local and Long Distance Calls VoIP - netTALK They can even transfer most #'s to the service for a $20 fee.
We never had an issues with DirectTV in Florida. It was actually better service than the cable provider to give. We were able to watch TV during hurricanes as long as the power was on. Although they are another one that you have to watch for the dreaded bill creep. I think that is any of them these days. We are Sam's Club members and get a discount and get to keep the intro rate as long as we are members. Then we also get a $10/month savings since we have AT&T cell service and they were bought by them. On top of that we get another $10 off for 10 months for a refer-a-friend offer.
