So, read many threads on transfer case drain and fills...Ordered the correct Ford fluid (2quarts), drained the old. It came out brown, but not too dirty when you rubbed it between fingers. I took photo of the old and the new. See below:
Also, finally uploaded a photo of the external transmission filter (Job 1) I changed out. Again, it was $85 on amazon.com. It has a white marking on it similar to many items when they are installed on the assembly line. If so then it had 86K miles on it and it was over 8 years old.
What do you guys think about the fluid color for the transfer case? It also was bubbly.
I have an 08 which I bought at 57K miles and changed all fluids and just for peace of mind and all fluids where normal in color. I would drain the gear boxe(s) as well. my truck was a gov fleet vehicle before I got it so I'm thinking the dif fluid had 27K miles on it before I changed it.

I doubt that. I've been operating federal fleet vehicles for almost six years now, and it's difficult to get anything approved other than oil changes. My organization trades them out between 50-70,000 miles, and I've never seen anything more than oil changes done to them. They won't even pay for a tire rotation!
