Musing on COEs

I was cruising google images and ran across this. Weird

1936 Cab Over Engine - Ford... - MOTORIZED VEHICLES - Cars, Trucks, B?

What I was looking for was one of these, only a Ford. I know they are custom built and I've seen a few pics of AD chevys that look pretty cool but can't find any images of a Ford one.

That first one is the earliest Ford COE made. I think they were converted by an aftermarket truck builder. Extremely rare!

That's one way of putting the C over the E. "Hey, maybe we should build these at the Ford factory. We could put a longer bed on the frame."

I'd like to see some pictures of Ford COE nose on a panel truck.

You are right. It is an odd approach; I don't recognize the panel part of this rig. I sent this pic because this could be the only version on the internet.
The yellow '46 or so Chev built in your original post used a better idea. He lifted the delivery panel up so that the roof was the same height as the cab roof then blended the two roofs. This primer gray '39 or '40 Ford above that Tinman sent would be a good starting point to build a Ford like the yellow Chev.

Then on this Dearborn Line, I wonder if they patented this idea and if so they must have become wealthy when all of the truck builders thought that it was a good idea.

That is very unique and pretty darn cool.
But the more I look at it, I realize nothing lines up as far as the body lines of the truck and panel. Probably a 40-47 panel body so the side lines are different than the 38-39 COE cab, maybe???

The beltline on a '38-'38 panel delivery should match. But you would still have the transition from 2 beads back to 3 beads to deal with.

When the subject goes to what I may do with a panel delivery. I have to consult with Dane.

You probably wouldn't be using the back of the COE cab. Mate them up so the door closes right against the door post on the panel body.
I wish that 47 COE wrecker I know about for $1000 wasn't so beat to he**

Yes, good idea. Like the custom made van above. It would be easier to graft the cab top at that point also.
