Talking Air suspension off

With the air suspension turned off, does it do anything outside of stopping the kneel function of the vehicle? Is it safe to run the vehicle with it off, it does feel less supple with it off. Will it do more or less damage with it off? Im sorry for allbthe questions, as much as i know about this truck i never owned and i am def not a mechanic. I just want to do as much preventative maint as possible so i can keep it for a cool 6 to 7 yrs

I can only tell you about my experience with my 2000 Expedition. Turning the Suspension off would Kill all functions. On my older truck with the older style steering, it would be stiffer to steer with the Air Suspension off. And after leaving it off for several days, the rear started to raise gradually as it was driven. Apparently, with the system off, the air would migrate to the areas of least resistance which was the rear air bags. Turning the system back on returned everything back to normal. I could not leave mine off for these reasons. Turning the system off is only for service.

This information may not help you on a different generation truck.
