Finally finishing up the Cummins conversion and I must say I really like it. Been doing the 5R110 transmission tuning and it is really shifting well. Even made a fuel mileage check and got 13mpg (much better than the 7.5 the 460 got). Still a few small bugs to work out but I am hacking at them.

If you're doing any front end work and haven't already checked the ball joints etc this would be a great time to refresh the front suspension.
New Moog parts from Amazon would set you back just under $400 for everything up front; (4) ball joints, tie rod ends (inner & outer) and the drag link too. Another $95 would get new front coils---add in Energy Suspension axle pivot, radius arm and sway bar urethane bushings for another $100 and you've got a brand new truck.
I'm also glad this swap is working out so well--good to know its doable with the right motivation.

It was a lot of work and a considerable investment, but i'm very pleased with the results. Now I have right at $10K in the whole bus.
Actually, all of the ball joints, springs, and bushings are good. I'm only replacing all of the steering linkage. Got new Moog parts ordered from Rock Auto for right at $200 that should be here today.

Thought I would give a short update. I liked this bus when it had the 460 gas engine, I LOVE this bus with the Cummins 5.9 engine. Everything is working fine, the 5R110 transmission shifts great in normal and Tow/Haul modes. Still get 13-14 mpg. Bus drives very well and does everything it should without any drama. At some point I may turn the injector pump up, but for now I'm very happy!
