light under L corner

So today I replaced the trailer light/brakes socket under the bumper. While I was under the left rear I looked up and noticed there is,not working, a light that is looking very factory mounted to the under side of the left corner of the bed. I didn't have time to check it out but will... Is this a light for night hook up!

Can you post a pic? You sure it's not one of the license plate lights, relocated?

Don't know if it is...I'll get a photo soon. The truck is at the garage having some ball joints put in at the moment. If I get it back today I'll get a pic up...

from the factory some trucks came without a bumper and had a license plate light mounted to the left lower bed rail under the tailgate. there is also two holes there for mounting the plate. when the dealer put the rear bumper on they just unplugged that light and plugged in the ones in the bumper.
5 of my 6 trucks came from the factory without a bumper, and had the plate lite there.

^^^^^ I was wondering if that was it, given the location. Dang, wish my '85 was so equipped. Truck was taken off the road and used as a farm truck since 1991, 'til I bought it. DMI swing hitch bumper, no provision for a license plate. There's a flat vertical plate in that location for the license plate, but I had to get my own light for it. That ^^^^^ setup woulda come in handy.

As soon as I get the truck back from the repair shop I'll take a photo of it. It might help locating your plate.
