V10 PCV valve

So, I bought two pcv valves, one for each of my 2000 excursions.

One I bought at a box auto parts store, the other I bought from Ford.

Both look the same, but they are not the same.

Ford unit I can blow thru both sides easily as well as sucks thru both sides easilly.

The other I cannot blow as easy as the ford unit.

That is the limit of my knowledge of PCV valves.

How do you know which is working like the V10 requires?

Use the Ford one. PCV valves are one of the things that I always try to stay with OEM.

I believe regardless of brand PCV's need to act like check valves---which they are in reality anyway. Blowing through them from the larger end should work, sucking from the smaller end should not. If you're able to effect flow in both directions I'd not use that particular part.

If they rattle when shaken that's not a good sign either......

Make sure to replace the valve cover grommet too.
