There's a million of them, google "differential gear pattern" or similar.

Miles to go on yours.

Really need to see the other side. The depth looks ok but I'd bet the back lash is not right.

His pattern goes off the end of the gear tooth. Ring too close to pinion according to the charts.

Move ring away from the pinion and see.

Try to do one adjustment in one increment at a time.

Serving suggestion.

i'm now reading the pattern without apllying any resistance on the carrier. some people say you need to read the pattern applying 40 to 50 ftp of tourqe. is that true?
thanks

There should be some resistance. I recall the Ford mechanic doing it that way when he set up my Mustang diff.

Yes you should have some resistance to run the pattern. I typically spin the ring gear by hand and hold the pinion flange with the other. You want to get the pattern right and good backlash or you will have noise or burn it up

yes you need to have some resistance when you are printing the pattern. The pinion shims look ok. You should be looking at the spacing ( flank to face ) for pinion shimming, its pretty well centered now you should just need some more back lash.

thanks to everyone for the help.

this is the result i'v got.

have .006 of backlash. i decided to stop messing with the shims because i don't think i can get any better. i know it's not perfect but the manuale says it's ok.

let me know your opinions...

How did it turn out? Any noise at cruise or deceleration?
