2008 sport trac, started hissing when accelerating this morning.. up until this point, it made a hissing noise when I turned off the air, however I thought maybe this was normal.
I know NOTHING about trucks, please help, thanks.
Is the hiss the entire time you are accelerating? Does it seem to be coming from in the cabin/under the dash or is it likely from under the hood? Does your Sport Trac have manual (****) climate control or electronic (buttons) climate control?
Have you checked under the hood to make sure the top of the air filter box is properly fastened?

Ok! I checked under the hood and box that holds the air filter seems tight.. It still has those metal clasps on it, and I cannot move the top, so I'm assuming it's a tight fit.
My truck has manual turn *****.. The hiss sounds like it's coming from the floorboard area of the passenger side.
I read some other forum answers this morning and some people said after their engine heated up, the hiss stopped. In my case, that didn't happen. I have an hour commute and it hissed all the way to work. It hisses when I first push on the accelerator or the plus button on the cruise control.. then the hiss stops. If I accelerate really hard, it goes away.
