Be sure you clean everything with carb cleaner before assembly. Sounds like they just weren't tight enough. These aren't flimsy stock boots so you need to go nice and tight because they have so much more body and strength to them.
I over tightened mine and had to replace the intercooler cause over time it bent the intercooler inlet and I had trouble getting them to seal. I always had a light film of oil residue around the boot and it drove me nuts
having the metal tube may not be an issue with over tightening these... but I believe the spec is like 11lbs or something close.
The clamps with the springs on them, if compressed flat only give that pressure where the spring bridges the gap, not around the entire clamp. Why they spec'd a poundage to the clamp and say not to over tighten.
Light oil residue is from the CCV, normal to see... I've got the same issue. Clean it with brake cleaner, spray the tube with hairspray and get the clamp back on so that ridge in the boot lines up.
You could use two clamps.
Blowing a boot off when your foots in the throttle will make you get out and look under the truck for oil poring out of the block... first time it happened to me, right after I got the truck. I was .. checking my fart filter for lumps!
I will try the hair spray tip of it comes off again I haven't had a problem scenes I changed it. It was also leaking from the end cap I guess some of them had issues with that... Guess mine was one of them.
The first time mine did it was right after I did the head studs. I thought for sure I blew it up. Mentally checking all the bolts I tourqued in my head.... At that time tho the clamp was just to loose
Thanks for the tip may just do it this weekend for preventative measures
