Hello, I have a 2012 F-150 STX 4x4 with the 5.0 liter. I have noticed that when I put my truck in to reverse and sometimes drive I get a click sound. I jacked up the truck thinking it was the drive shaft that was loose but it wasn't... But I believe it is coming from the rear end. I found a video of the sound on youtube. Does any one else have this issue?

I had this same sound on my truck (2012 Eco). I took it to the dealership and they were familiar with the sound. They performed tsb 14-0090 which involved a bolt in the transmission.
The noise can also be from the yoke to pinion engagement. The two surfaces are not a perfect fit. My 2012 had the issue. The dealership found a tsb which includes replacing the oil slinger and coating the pinion splines in lock tight. So far so good.

Hi, gang!
Be sure to let me know if you decide to have your dealerships check out the clicking noise. I'm glad to step in and assist when needed. How many miles are on your trucks?

Crystal, my truck has 54,000 miles can the dealership fix it under warranty? I am going in for oil change tomorrow I am going to see if they can put some of that motor craft penetrating oil on there to see if that fixes it.

Hi Mikes150,
I can't make warranty decisions, but I know your service manager will be happy to answer that for you. Come back and tell us how your appointment goes tomorrow. I'll hang around this thread to see if you need my help.
Just got done with oil change and the wouldn't look at it because supposedly that's a different part of the shop. So after hunting season I will make an appointment to have it diagnosed. My truck is still under the power train warranty. Does any body know if I have to still pay them to diagnose it?
Thanks.

Really? I would be asking to see the service manager.
I use the Ford Quick Lane at the dealer I use for oil change, tires, etc and if I have any other issue they will pull in the "other part of the shop" to resolve the issue.
I am tired of that any time I have an issue that needs a quick browse I always have to make a separate appointment. I have gone to two different dealers in my city. I figured the rear ended click would be part of the multipoint inspection....states under the transmission/drive axle section. I really wish ford corporate could read these but it almost impossible to get a hold of any one higher up on the totem pole.
