So, anyone got a line on one of these that won't break the first time you pull up on it to open the &*%#$@!!! door? I have replaced two this week, both Dorman, and they SUCK. I have lubed and made sure all the mechanisms are not binding and moving freely. I am thinking these porous plastic China replacements are just cheap. Anyone? Thanks!
I was wondering that very thing Nick. I think you are right! I seriously wondered today if I could pay someone to make me a metal one. I have no idea how I would go about it though.
You need to find out what is wrong inside the door . The first one that broke was a factory handle . Most times its a door out of adjustment ,
pins & bushings , stretched cable ,worn latch or the door it self has cracked around the mounting surface of the handle
Rick, I agree...but looking everything over and lubing the crap out of it, everything seems to be ok. I am guessing the cable is stretched out. I'll look at getting a new one. The mounting surface is really in pretty good shape.

SCORE! I am ordering one tomorrow. Hopefully they still have them.

I have been down this road many times . The reason the handles break in the first place is having to pull on it harder because something else is wrong .
Get a better handle if you think that is the problem .(its not)
Eventually the door won't open from the inside at all . I always question why something goes from working , to not working . Good luck
The older versions of the latch had a wire loop on it that the cable was captive in, the wire loop would easily bend after time making the cable too long. Go ahead & fix the symptom if you like.

Is the cable the only issue if the mounting surface is good or does the latch affect it as well? Meaning should I look at replacing both?
I replaced mine with the metal handles a year ago, after going through about one a week. As I was replacing them I went a head and changed out the hinge pins and bushings and adjusted the nadir pin as well. Haven't replaced a handle since. But I believe I also fixed the route of the problem as well.
