yeah the 3rd brake light wasn't introduced until the '94 model year.so if you want the brake light to work, you'll need to run your own wire for it.the cargo light will work though.
My truck is a much older model (1969 F100 short bed Ranger) but, obviously a '69 model Ford truck wouldn't have come from the factory with a 3rd brake light. The same basic installation principles would apply to any truck that didn't come with a 3rd brake light.
I installed an 1157 style dual element socket in the cargo light housing, ran a wire off the switched side of the brake light switch on the pedal and added a Red/White Switchback LED. The cargo light still functions as a cargo light but now, it also doubles as a high-mount 3rd brake light when I step on the brake pedal.
id just go to the local salvage yard if your in a rust free state.around here older vehicles are pretty much scraped long ago so id just hop on ebay and get one.
I'm restoring this tuck so I will be buying a new one FordF250HDXLT. I have an LED third brake light on my other truck and the cargo light is extremely bright. I noticed they had led ones for 92-97 so I wanted to know if they'd swap. I'll prob just wire up the plug for it then. Thanks for the help
