I recently bought a 2011 Expedition Limited, it has 75k miles on it. The other night my wife was driving home and the engine died. When I tried to start the engine it would start for a second and then shut off, but when I pressed on the accelerator the engine would start. Once I let off of the gas it would die. I read on another forum where someone disconnected the MAF, I tried it and it worked. I immediately plugged it back in and was able to drive it home. I bought a new MAF and replaced it. Prior to replacing it, I noticed while parked and idling I noticed the engine would rev up from 1000 RMP to 2000 to 2500 RPM and then it would settle back down to 1000. Could this have been a vacuum leak or a true MAF issue? I called the dealer, but they basically told me that because I didn't purchase the extended warranty there was nothing they could/would do for me. Thank you in advance for any help or advise you may be able to give....On a side note I drove it all day after replacing the MAF and have not had any issues.

Hi pablocruz69,
Congrats on the Expedition! Just to clarify, is your extended warranty from Ford or is it aftermarket? Let me know if you decide to have your local Ford Dealership diagnose this for you; once they've taken a look, I'll be able to research some options to assist.
