Does anyone know if a topper off a 2005 f-250 shortbox will fit on a 2015 f-250 shortbox? Other than the tailgate step, I can't think of any other differences.
Pretty sure 99-up are the same bed physically speaking. The tailgate step will be the difference and its usually just the lower trim on the cap is different. The one on my 14 is off an 08, and there is no difference to tell
For some reason their website lists them as 99-07 and then 08+. I assume there is something different about the 99-07 to make them not fit. I'm like you though, they look the same to me.
The BacFlip cover fits inside the bed and has the same part number for the 2005 and the 2015. Makes me think the inside bed dimensions are the same. If the rear door seals on top the tail gate I would think it would work. I did a quick google search & found a Jason cap for sale, the dealer says it fits 1999-2016 Super Dutys w/o the step tailgate.
Ok. So I'd just have to come up with something on the tailgate seal then. Mine has the step. I'll bet that's not a big deal to figure out. Thanks for the help!
Yeah, that would still put this at a great deal. Even if a new door was a couple hundred bucks. The topper I'm taking about is on Craigslist for $375. Says it's for an 05. Pictures shows the short-bed. I'm going to look at it tomorrow. We'll see. I'll keep you posted.
For what its worth, I have a brand new Leer on my '15 and the fit isn't perfect anyway. Also, the installer had to drill and bolt the rear two clamp points because it kept shifting due to the trucks ride. Mine is an 8 ft bed though, may not have that problem on the shorter ones.
Thanks man. I love this truck. I put a 5 Star Tune in it and it made all the difference in the world.
So, does the topper fit over the bed caps or do they have to be removed? It's hard to tell in your picture. It looks like it's close to rubbing the paint.
It fits over the bed caps and it is close to rubbing the paint. Its closer in the middle over the tire than the front and back too because the cap doesn't exactly follow the bed contour. Closest it gets is about 1/8th of an inch. That's why it was critical to bolt it down to avoid any movement.
Just wanted you to be aware of the fitment issues so you don't just think the cap you get doesn't fit.
This cap is a '15 cap that was purchased at the same time as the truck thru the dealer and installed by a Leer dealer. Cost was about $1,600 installed.
I had an 03 model 122 which worked fine on my 05 truck. it would not work on my 08 truck. the truck bed wall tops where they meet were different widths.
