Power Steering Gear Input Leak
I finally got my truck up and running only to find that input seal to the power steering gear is leaking. Any suggestions if I can replace just the input seal easily or do I have to replace/rebuild the entire assembly? The unit functions just fine but input seal is leaking pretty good. If I need to purchase a new/rebuilt one....where should I get. I can get a reman'd one from Oreilly or AutoZone for $200 or rebuild mine for same cost. Or Redhead steering gear one for $375.

Can be done with the gear box on the truck, seals are available. Read thru here, there is a walk thru of the replacement of each seal. Input and out put.

Thank you very much. I got the seal kit and will give it a shot tonight!

I just walked in from doing the job. Pretty dang easy and fixed the leak. I have another 1979 F150 4x4 that I am gonna do it to as well. I will document that one......it is my hunting truck I picked up for 1000 bucks. Just needed a little TLC. My black 79 I just restored was the was one I just fixed. Would have been nicer pics.
